Hydroxypropyl starch ether (HPS) is a functional additive that enhances the performance of cement- and gypsum-based dry mortar, improving properties such as workability, slip resistance, and thickening efficiency. When used in combination with cellulose ether, HPS can further modify mortar workability, improve adhesion, and provide a synergistic effect after compounding with cellulose ether.
HPS is produced from natural corn starch through a series of processes, including modification, etherification reaction, spraying, and drying. It is a fine white powder with good water solubility, offering different characteristics from ordinary starch or other modified starch products.
