Products Description of Direct Red 23 CAS#3441-14-3
Direct Red 23 is a purple-red powder with moderate water solubility. When dissolved in water, it produces a vivid red solution. Its aqueous solution exhibits different color responses under various chemical conditions: it changes to light blue upon the addition of dilute sulfuric acid, forms a wine-red precipitate in concentrated hydrochloric acid, and develops a reddish orange-brown color in concentrated alkaline conditions.
The pigment is slightly soluble in ethanol, producing an orange-colored solution, and is insoluble in acetone. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appears bright red to magenta and changes to brown-orange after dilution. It forms an orange-yellow precipitate when treated with concentrated nitric acid and remains insoluble in concentrated alkali solutions.
Direct Red 23 dissolves in concentrated ammonia water, producing a bright red solution. During dyeing applications, the color shade becomes deeper in the presence of copper ions, while iron ions have little influence on the color appearance.

Product Application of Direct Red 23 CAS#3441-14-3
Direct Red 23 is primarily used for dyeing and printing cotton, viscose, linen, and other textile fibers. It can also be applied in the coloration of silk, wool, paper, and leather, as well as in the preparation of lake pigments.
This dye can be used independently to produce scarlet and madder red shades (yellowish red tones), or combined with yellow, orange, red, brown, and other dyes for color blending to achieve different shades. After dyeing, the fabric can be finished with urea-formaldehyde resin or treated with Fixing Agent Y, while maintaining the original color base. When treated with Fixing Agent M, the color shade will shift noticeably toward blue.
