Products Description of Metatitanic Acid CAS#12026-28-7
Metatitanic acid is an intermediate formed during the production of titanium dioxide through the sulfuric acid process. In this process, ilmenite reacts with sulfuric acid to produce titanyl sulfate. The resulting solution then undergoes purification, cooling to remove ferrous sulfate, pressure filtration, and concentration. Subsequently, the titanyl sulfate is hydrolyzed to obtain metatitanic acid.
Metatitanic acid is a white powder that is insoluble in water, inorganic acids, and bases, except in the case of freshly precipitated metatitanic acid.
