Products Description of Sodium Petroleum Sulfonate
Sodium petroleum sulfonate, also referred to as sodium alkane sulfonate or T702 rust inhibitor, is a sulfonate-based anionic surfactant with the chemical formula RSO₃Na, where R represents a C14–C18 alkyl group. It is typically a viscous liquid, with a color ranging from orange-yellow to black depending on the raw materials used. With a density of 1.09 g/cm³ and excellent water solubility, sodium petroleum sulfonate offers effective emulsifying and anti-rust properties. It is widely used in textile printing and dyeing auxiliaries, liquid detergents, emulsifiers for vinyl chloride polymerization, and metal rust-preventive oils and greases.

Product Application of Sodium Petroleum Sulfonate
Sodium petroleum sulfonate is an anionic surfactant produced through sulfonation and neutralization processes. It offers excellent penetrating properties, along with strong emulsifying, degreasing, and cleaning performance, even under conditions involving strong alkalis, high temperatures, or oxidizing agents. It is also highly compatible with both anionic and non-ionic surfactants.
In addition to its effective emulsifying capabilities, sodium petroleum sulfonate provides good lubrication and rust-prevention properties. It exhibits low corrosivity toward non-ferrous metals and causes minimal irritation to human skin. These characteristics make it suitable for use in metalworking fluids as an emulsifier, lubricant, and auxiliary rust inhibitor.
Furthermore, sodium petroleum sulfonate functions as a stabilizer, detergent, processing aid, and dispersant. It is widely used in various industries, including petroleum extraction, textile processing and dyeing, pharmaceuticals, and chemical synthesis.
