Toluenediamine (TDA) is an aromatic diamine organic compound with the chemical formula C₇H₁₀N₂. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow crystalline powder or needle-shaped crystals and gradually turns dark purple or black when exposed to air and light. The melting point is 97–99°C for the 2,4-isomer and 88–96°C for industrial mixtures, while the boiling point is 283–285°C.
TDA is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether, with a water solubility of approximately 50 g/L at 25°C. It is mainly used as a raw material for the synthesis of toluene diisocyanate (TDI).

Applications
It serves chiefly as a feedstock for TDI manufacturing and an initiator in polyether synthesis. Polyether polyols generated with TDA as the starter can form foams featuring even, tiny cellular architecture, which upgrades thermal insulation capacity and dimensional stability under low-temperature conditions.
It can act as a curing agent for epoxy resins and a synthetic intermediate within dye manufacturing.
It is adopted to prepare aromatic diamine hardeners for polyurethane elastomers and epoxy systems, such as dimethylthiotoluenediamine (DMTDA) and diethyltoluenediamine (DETDA).
