Broad Industrial Versatility: It is widely adopted in fragrances, solvent systems, organic synthesis, bactericides and pesticides, delivering flexible performance for many sectors.

Methyl Formate CAS 107-31-3

Methyl formate belongs to the family of formate esters. At ambient temperature, it is a colourless, clear and volatile liquid with a pleasant smell. It is miscible in water, alcohols and ethers, and undergoes saponification when exposed to water and alkaline solutions. This ester tends to hydrolyze readily under humid conditions. Its vapour may create explosive mixtures when mixed with air, with an explosion limit ranging from 6.0% to 20.0% by volume. Serving as a valuable intermediate for organic synthesis, methyl formate finds extensive use in the manufacturing of fragrances, solvents, synthetic chemical compounds, bactericides and insecticides.
