Polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate CAS#9016-87-9
Commonly called PAPI or crude MDI, polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanate is a critical industrial chemical feedstock. This substance generally presents as a viscous liquid ranging from pale yellow to dark brown, or a clear brown fluid with a sharp, irritating smell.
This product is a blended system containing around 50% MDI and 50% polyisocyanate, and its average functionality is higher than 2. Its density falls within 1.1–1.2 g/cm³ under 20–25°C. The boiling point reads roughly 373.4°C at 760 mmHg, or 392°C under 5 mmHg.
