Tetraethylammonium bromide is an organic compound with the formula (C2H5)4NBr, appearing as white crystals. It is hygroscopic and readily dissolves in water, ethanol, chloroform, and acetone, while showing slight solubility in benzene. Its water solubility at 25°C is 2795 g/L. A 10% aqueous solution has a pH of 6.5, which remains stable when heated to 95°C for 28 hours. The compound is irritating and is primarily used as a polarographic reagent and pesticide intermediate, as well as for testing precious metals such as gold, iridium, palladium, rhodium, and ruthenium.
